Hello, and welcome to the notebook.
This is a place for slow writing: essays on craft, cities and the small details that make a life feel considered. I write by hand in the morning, type up whatever survives, and publish when a piece is ready rather than when a calendar says so.

What you will find here
Longer essays when I have something worth the length; shorter notes when I do not; travel pieces from places I have walked slowly through; and a little writing about the craft of making things well.
How it is made
The site runs on Ghost and a theme called Blogga, set in two typefaces — Newsreader for reading, Instrument Sans for everything else — with a single accent colour that I am allowed to use sparingly.
If you would like to hear when something new goes up, you can subscribe by email. It is free, it is rare, and you can leave whenever you like.
Questions, disagreements and kind words are all welcome on the contact page.
